20’000 DOCUMENTOS DE DAESH/ 20’000 documents from Daesh

A former member of Daesh fled from Raqqa and gave to the security forces in Turkey, through a media (Skynews), secret documents seized from Daesh that reveal more than 22,000 data on many of its members with the intention to help in the fight against the terrorist organization. The documents show phone numbers, addresses, nationality, operation within the group … and even the real names of members to the cause of the self-proclaimed Islamic State; one of the pages, with the title of Martyrs, also reveals who are those who, by will, can or will carry out suicide attacks.

This compendium of data reveals a huge administrative and recruitment organization that is coordinated through border points, mainly from Syria with Turkey. According to a first analysis of the documents, the fighters come from at least 51 countries (72% are Arabs and only 1.7% are Syrians. In the front line, the Turks take the lead along with Frenchs). However, despite the large number of data obtained thanks to these documents (about 22,000 profiles), it has only been able to identify 1,700 different people due to the extensive repetition of content.

A former terrorist, who fled Raqqa (quite active in the organization before) and who gave this valuable information stored in a digital memory, without even knowing how important it would become, decided to betray Daesh with the will to stop the hypocrisy of this criminal organization. This man was a former fighter of the Free Syrian Army who swore allegiance to Daesh and who called himself Abu Hamed. He has also revealed that the terrorist group is preparing to leave Raqqa and move toward the deserts of Syria and Iraq and also he said that the group is now cooperating with the Kurdish YPG forces and the regime of Bashar Al Assad against the opposition forces.

This month, as Secretary of State John Kerry and his French counterpart, Jean-Marc Ayrault, revealed, this past week the Daesh has lost around 600 militiamen and 3,000 kilometers of its territory; the reason of the rapid advances against the dominance of the self-proclaimed Islamic State could lie in the positive restructuring of the political organization in Iraq, the coordination of the military forces in campaigns against the enemy positions and the recovery of a tactical offensive to avoid the recovery of terrorist forces. It have been very important the impacts on their funding sources, the Russian military support and the coalition fighting forces on the ground and the attacks targeting its fundamental centers of political and military organization.

The filtration of this large number of documents with data from the current members of Daesh has been the biggest intelligence coup against the terrorist organization and it would facilitate the collapse of its structure and its networks. The group appears to be disintegrating from its own internal structure and is facing its biggest weakness (predicted for their competence in the jihadist terrorism, Al Qaeda): the discontent of its own members and population.
