5 AÑOS DIFÍCILES PARA REINO UNIDO/ 5 difficult years for the UK

The elections that took place the 8 of June in the United Kingdom have left a very uncertain future for them facing the future negotiations around Brexit. Although the Conservative Party has managed to obtain most of the votes, it has not achieved the majority that Theresa May craved, one that gives them the opportunity to be able to negotiate the conditions of the break as it thought fit. On the contrary, it has lost the absolute majority which Cameron had bequeathed two years ago and has now forced himself to form an alliance with the Unionist party of Northern Ireland, which is more conservative in the social aspects than the Tories.

The great surprise of the night has been the Labour Party, which remained two points of the conservatives, thus having the best results in the previous 10 years in an unexpected gesture by the conservatives. In the last two months, the advantage from them promised to be huge, reason for which the anticipated elections were called. But these results have led to an uncertain future for the UK, which faces an unusual situation: negotiating the exit of the European Union.

European leaders congratulated the Premier for having achieved the victory, but also, they have expressed about the negotiations arguing that they will become tougher since Theresa May will try to show the strength against the loss of votes she has suffered in order to demonstrate more unity, which is not the best thing for the negotiations that promise by themselves to be complicated.

In addition, May will have to cope with the growing insecurity that has engulfed the country at the root of the recent attacks in England, which has shown that the most watched city in the world is not the safest, although it is difficult to predict this type of attacks since they are very rudimentary in terms of planning and execution. This has put in check the British intelligence and security services, which have been blamed for not having foreseen them and for that reason May has promised hardest policies in the fight against terrorism, although the details around them are not yet known.

What all that shows are that the British domestic political landscape has been further complicated having in mind that the conservatives have not achieved the absolute majority they sought, the incredible rise of the labourists in only two months or the slight growth of the Libdems with Tim Farron in front. The only good news for Westminster is that the SNP has lost a lot of support in these last elections, which almost nullifies the

possibility of requesting a new referendum on Scottish independence, although we will have to wait to see how the negotiations are carried out of the disconnection with the EU and the result of them.
